Gundog Training Classes

Would you like to learn how to develop your dog's natural abilities and put them to use in everyday life? Want to know more about gundog training or just fancy doing something different with your dog? Then this is the course for you! This course is ideal for owners wishing to try gundog training just for fun or as a foundation to moving on to training with a reward based gundog club. All breeds welcome! 

6 x 50 minute weekly lessons, held outdoors at Clanfield Memorial Hall, learning key foundation gundog training exercises and their use in everyday life, including:

• Focus
• Sit to heel (stay)
• Release cues
• Recall whistle
• Stop whistle
• Send away
• Retrieve
• Steady around distractions
• Walking to heel (on lead)
• Directional signals (left and right)

Certificate and rosette awarded upon course completion.  Previous basic training (e.g. sit, stay, recall) would be advantageous but is not essential.   

Includes digital course manual with all the training exercises covered plus top training tips.  

Please note this course will take place over 7 weeks, as there will be no class on Easter Sunday 20th April 2025

Following on from the gundog foundations level 1 course, this 6 week course takes the foundation skills achieved in the level 1 course to the next level, as well as introducing new exercises. This course is suitable for dogs who have attended our level 1 course or an equivalent foundation pet gundog course with another training club.

6 x 50 minute weekly lessons, held outdoors, learning key foundation gundog training exercises including:

• Walking to heel (off lead) 
• Advanced walking to heel (on lead)
• Send around
• Advanced steady
• Stop progression 
• Back hand signal
• Hunt whistle
• Marked, memory and blind retrieves 
• Gundog games

Certificate and rosette awarded upon course completion.  Includes digital course manual with all the training exercises covered plus top training tips.   

Please note this course will take place over 7 weeks, as there will be no class on Easter Sunday 20th April 2025

Following on from the gundog foundations level 2 course, this 6 week course takes the foundation skills achieved in the level 1 and 2 courses to the next level, introducing new and more advanced exercises. This course is suitable for dogs who have attended our level 2 course or an equivalent foundation pet gundog course with another training club.

6 x 50 minute weekly lessons, held outdoors at Springwood Junior School, learning key foundation gundog training exercises including:

• Quartering 
• Direction change whistle
• Split retrieves
• Casting
• Jump and tunnel retrieves
• Ladder retrieves 
• Scurries
• Gundog games

Certificate and rosette awarded upon course completion.  Includes digital course manual with all the training exercises covered plus top training tips.
