Creator of K9 Klass and award-winning instructor, Juanita, originally started her dog training journey over a decade ago after attending training classes with her American Bulldog puppy Lenny.
“After training my puppy I knew then that I wanted to work with dogs and their owners to help them to follow in my footsteps of building a strong bond with their dog and promoting responsible dog ownership.”
In 2018 after working as an instructor and branch manager for a local chain of dog training clubs for several years, Juanita decided it was time to pursue her dream of starting her own dog training school, which resulted in the birth of K9 Klass Dog Training, offering classes to suit dogs of all ages, breeds and activity levels.
Juanita specialises in adolescent dogs, scent detection and tracking within her instructing activities and as a qualified canine behaviourist she specialises in reactivity and chase related behaviour.
Juanita is a member of numerous professional canine organisations, a board member for the Kennel Club Accredited Instructor Scheme and also works as the UK's Accreditation Adviser for the scheme, providing support and guidance to fellow dog trainers across the UK working towards their KCAI qualification.
In her spare time Juanita enjoys spending time with and training her two dogs, as well as continuing her professional development to keep up to date with the latest training and behaviour techniques.

Emma started her training journey with Juanita back in 2016 when she joined Juanita's training classes with her puppy Floodle Jasper. Having worked all the way from puppy class to completing their gold award, Emma joined Juanita's team to follow her love of working with dogs and to help fellow dog owners, passing on her knowledge and experience.
Emma is on hand during our Sunday morning classes to help owners and their dogs with the exercises, giving that personal/121 touch to ensure they get the best out of their training!
Emma met Juanita when she was needing extra help early 2020, she is a massive animal lover and jumped at the opportunity to help out.
"I have loved animals since I can remember; so much so I studied Animal care Level 2 & Animal management Level 3 at college."
Unfortunately Emma's career has taken her away from animals so being involved in K9 Klass is perfect for her to get involved with them again. Emma doesn't yet have her own dog but it is something she plans to change very shortly!

Liza has owned dogs for most of her life, starting with growing up with her 2 dogs in the family home and most recently rescuing her “Mega-Mutt” Cracker in 2018 when he was 5 months old. Cracker is the first dog Liza has owned who has fear and reactivity issues (due to horrific abuse suffered during the first stages of his life) and it has a truly eye opening, challenging and life changing experience.
Liza started her training journey with Juanita in 2018 when she took Cracker to puppy class and together, despite all of Cracker’s issues and thanks to Juanita’s infinite patience, wisdom and understanding, they have progressed up to advanced level, including gaining their UK Sniffer Dogs gold scent detection award.
"Owning a reactive dog is a real challenge and can be both upsetting and stressful. You can often be openly judged for having a bad dog and/or being a bad owner when both statements are the furthest thing from the truth. I truly understand these struggles but also know the utter joy that comes from helping a dog overcome their problems and feel safe and secure."
Because of Cracker, Liza has developed a real passion for dog training, recently gaining a Canine Behaviour Training Diploma, and has joined Juanita’s team to be able to continue her own learning and development whilst helping and supporting other dog owners…plus she gets to spend even more time in the company of even more dogs which makes her extremely happy!

Vicki first meet Juanita in 2020 when she attended Juanita’s puppy class with her Labrador retriever puppy Ozzie. Since then, she and Ozzie worked through the intermediate and advanced training courses as well as the gun dog course and have also gained their UK Sniffer Dogs gold scent detection award..
Since having Ozzie, Vicki has been very interested in dog training, dog nutrition and taking every opportunity to learn more! With her passion for learning she has recently completed the Pro Dog Trainer course putting her new knowledge into practice.
When the opportunity came about to work with Juanita and the K9 Klass team she jumped at the chance! Vicki has a real passion for dogs and loves seeing them grow with their owners.

Alice has been in love with animals since she can remember. Following her dream to work in an animal based environment, she attended a Zoology based College in Italy and pursued her studies at the faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Milan, focusing on wildlife management and pets behaviour and nutrition. Alice has worked with a variety of species, from raptors to cattle and absolutely fell in love with animal training and cooperative care during her university years. While volunteering as a researcher for Milan and Manchester University, studying animal behaviour and training in Zoos she also worked as a dog walker and occasional dog trainer. Alice qualified with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers in March 2024.
Alice met Juanita in 2022 when looking for some guidance with her reactive Border Collie, Bucky - who comes from a working line and was quite a challenge for Alice and her partner, who struggled with adapting his high herding drive to his life as a pet. After attending a loose lead class and 121 training with Juanita, Alice took the chance to join her as Assistant Instructor, exploring the world of dog training in the UK and helping other pet owners. Alice has recently completed the UK Sniffer Dogs gold scent detection award with Loki, her older dog, who’s been enjoying some quality time away from his energetic brother.
Alice also runs her own training business 360 Pawsibilities, operating in the Southampton and surrounding areas.
Penny’s love affair with all things canine started when her family took Teg, a 9-week-old working springer spaniel, into their home 5 years ago. There have been many challenges along the way with Teg’s health and behaviour: although full of typical spaniel energy, he is a sensitive soul and could be quite reactive in certain situations. It was clear to Penny that she needed to learn more about the reasons behind Teg’s reactivity to help him deal with everyday life. So, she enrolled on Level 5 Diploma in Canine Behaviour and Psychology with the ISCP, which she achieved with Distinction. Penny also qualified with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers in July 2024.
She has also been a dog socialiser at a local rescue centre, and worked with dogs of all shapes, sizes, characters, and backgrounds: and often came close to bringing them home with her! She loved seeing the dogs transform from being nervous and often wary of human contact, to happy, sociable and fully prepared for their forever homes. In 2024 Penny started her own dog walking business Crofton Canines offering solo walks and 121 training in the Stubbington, Lee on the Solent and Titchfield areas.
With Teg, Penny has attended agility classes and has also undertaken Gundog Club training but is with scent work that she and Teg have the most fun! Teg is happiest when using his nose and Penny quickly realised this was an excellent way to keep her energetic and sensitive canine companion stimulated, whilst improving their bond. She and Teg are currently on gold level scent work and have just started bronze tracking. It is through scent work that Penny’s dog training journey with Juanita started and realising that Juanita’s training ethos matched her own, she jumped at the chance to work with her and K9 Klass.
Penny is currently helping out on a Thursday evening with puppy classes – and putting her Diploma into practice!
Dawn has been obsessed with dogs since childhood; her first dog - ‘Tiny’ a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy joined the family when Dawn was 5. After studying Zoology at university, she went on to work in conservation as a Ranger. Her next dog ‘Monty’ a German Wirehaired Pointer, was able to go to work with her, and he really started her interest in dog training.
Since working in the New Forest National Park, Dawn has specialised in working with dog owners to minimise their impact on wildlife and nature. She has been mentored in this area by Natalie Light a leading dog trainer, clinical animal behaviourist and director of the Professional Association of Canine Trainers (PACT) and Stephen Jenkinson, advisor on access and countryside to the Kennel Club. Dawn now talks and advises other conservation organisations on positive and effective strategies for working with dog owners and commercial dog walkers.
Dawn has studied a number of dog training and behaviour courses with IMDT including Career as a dog trainer, Impulse Control, Canine Body Language, Perfect Puppy, and most recently the Professional Dog Walker Course.
Dawn now has two cocker spaniels, Cooper who has many special needs including being blind; and the younger one Hobbs, who is from working lines. Hobbs’ first workshop with Juanita at K9 Klass was UK Sniffer Dogs bronze tracking, when he was only 4 months old! He has since completed Intermediate puppy, gun Dog foundations level 1 and all of the UK Sniffer Dogs classes; he is now a regular at the gold progression classes.
Dawn loves Juanita’s friendly and empathetic approach to dog training, and really enjoys assisting in the Tuesday evening classes at Cowplain.
Jackie has owned dogs since she was 16 and last year she sadly lost her Springer spaniel at the grand old age of 17! Jackie now has a 1 year old Working Cocker Spaniel called Bruce and met Juanita through attending her scent work classes with him.
Bruce has completed his bronze and silver awards and is looking forward to completing gold next. Bruce really enjoys sniffer training and always wants to be first at the activities if not he becomes very vocal!
"I have been fortunate to join Juanita’s team to follow my love of working with dogs and to help fellow dog owners and passing on my knowledge and experience."

"Great classes and easy to learn behaviour techniques. We and our dogs really enjoyed the classes. The group sizes are kept small which is great and Juanita is really knowledgeable and helpful. Definitely recommend and will sign up to more classes in the future."
