Here at K9 Klass Dog Training, we use only reward based, ethical and force free methods in our training and behavioural work, following up to date scientific advances in the dog behaviour industry. We will never use force or aversive equipment in our work or jeopardise your dog's emotional wellbeing.
Unfortunately the dog training and behaviour industry is unregulated so anyone can call themselves a behaviourist despite having no qualifications in the subject, resulting in a minefield of underqualified and underexperienced trainers who can not only potentially make behavioural problems worse but can also put both yourself and your dog in danger.
Our Canine Behaviour Practitioner Juanita Rogers
ISCP.Dip.Canine.Prac, KCAI (CD), IMDT, PACT-KSA, ABTC-ATI, DTC-ADT is a level 5 qualified behaviourist and specialises in adolescent, reactivity and chase related behaviours.
It has been scientifically proven that outdated pack leader, dominance and force-based dog training is not only damaging for you and your dog’s relationship but can cause lasting psychological damage to your dog. Punishing the behaviour merely supresses it and does not teach the dog how to deal with and overcome the problems they are having or how to behave correctly. A quick fix may sound tempting, and many pet businesses claim to solve all your problems in one visit, however, true behaviour modification takes time, care and patience but the results speak for themselves and last!
Additional follow up sessions can be purchased and are chargeable at our standard 121 rate of £50 for a 60 minute session or 3 x 60 minute sessions for £140
Our behavioural consultation package consists of an initial 90 minute consultation and two 60 minute follow up visits, during which we will explore your dog's emotions, identify the underlying cause of their behaviour and create and implement a behavioural modification plan.
Prior to the first session, a link to our online behavioural consultation form will be emailed to you to gather some background information and history for your dog. We usually advise having the first session at your home to discuss the history and background to the problems you are having, undertake initial observations and cover some foundation exercises and then subsequent sessions can be held at a location of your choice (whichever is most appropriate for the issues you are having).
The consultation package also includes a comprehensive behavioural report that will be compiled and emailed to you within 48 hours of the initial consultation session. The report will be updated after each follow up session with details of any training exercises covered and additional remedial plan actions. 3 months of email support is also included in the package (starting from the date of the initial consultation).
Our specialist areas of behaviour are reactivity, adolescence and chase related behaviours, although we can cover most other behavioural issues. Some behavioural issues, such as separation anxiety for example, require a more specialist approach; in such cases we may not be able to help you, but will be able to provide you with details of another local pet professional who specialises in that area.
Payment for the behavioural consultation package is due in full on the day of the initial consultation visit and can be paid by cash, bank transfer or PayPal; details for these will be sent to you upon booking the package. For full terms and conditions, please visit our T's and C's page.
We are currently fully booked for behavioural consultations until February 2025 and are not taking on new clients at this time.
Juanita has really helped me with my nervous dog in just a few 1 2 1 sessions. Already, we could walk closer to other dogs with Luna getting more and more confident. Juanita provided plenty of useful tips and guidance during the sessions and followed up with it all written down in an email after each session.
We found Juanita on this website as we were at our wits end with some of our young dogs behaviour. The 1-2-1 training is excellent and we managed to fit so many things into to the 3 1 hour sessions. We are very impressed with Juanita’s professionalism, knowledge and results. We had to rearrange a couple of sessions due to Gabby coming into season or vets visits and Juanita was very accommodating. Gabby absolutely loves the sessions and we are booking in for some group training. Highly recommended.
Thank you so much Juanita for your great insight into and information behind male dog hormones and interacting with new dogs. I feel much calmer now when tension might arise between them as I am in control of his behaviour in good/bad days of his testosterone levels. Utterly enjoyed our sessions that were life changing for me. Juanita is very professional and absolutely knows dog's mind and behaviour. Our doggie couldn't have asked for more.
"I cannot praise Juanita enough, she came to me when I had almost given up hope with training my dog. She was the third trainer I contacted, I so wish I had contacted her first. After two previous trainers, numerous hours and numerous £’s spent I was nowhere near having even a reasonably well behaved dog. Rosie came to me at 6 months having had no training of any kind and also was not house trained. She was out of control and very aggressive towards me and other dogs we met. After just one session with Juanita I started to see a different dog, her exercises were fun for both me and Rosie, fun but also very instructive. Her behaviour improved enormously as we continued on our 121 journey with Juanita. She was so kind and had a calming effect on us both, I also learnt that sometimes the stress I was experiencing with her would be having a detrimental effect on Rosie's behaviour towards me and other dogs. Rosie is a completely different dog" - Laureen
