UK Sniffer Dogs was created for pet dogs, making it fun and rewarding putting your dog's natural scent abilities to work; helping to create a calm and focused dog with a great balance of mental and physical exercise. At K9 Klass Dog Training we run bronze, silver and gold tracking workshops at Springwood Junior School
Tracking is the ability detect , recognise and follow a specific scent of ground disturbance. Our dogs are born with this skill and would use it for survival before being domesticated. Humans have harnessed this for years; by applying dog behaviour to the dog's ability to track, we now use tracking dogs for lots of different operational purposes including:
- Police for criminals and evidence
- Military for opposition and threats
- Locating poachers
- Finding animals
When tracking a human, the dogs are taught to follow track scent, which is the disturbance in the ground left by the humans feet (footprints). Tracking dogs are taught to keep their nose down and follow the whole track, not just to get to the end, but to also indicate on any evidence (articles) dropped by the criminal, and find which route they took.

Suitable for dogs of any age, breed and activity level, our bronze level workshops will introduce you to the world of tracking using fun and easy to follow techniques, providing a great source of mental exercise for your dog. Our bronze tracking workshops are split into two parts - series 1 and series 2 and are held outdoors at Springwood Junior School in Waterlooville.
Series 1 works on article interest (indication), track laying, line handling and track running.
Series 2 works on adding track direction changes, building specific indications and delves deeper into how environmental conditions affect scent and how to read your dog when tracking.
Dogs will need to be comfortable being left in your vehicle, unless you have someone with you to hold them or they are happy to be tethered whilst you lay your tracks. The school car park is gated and will be locked during workshops.
Each series includes an accompanying student workbook and certificate of attendance. Series 1 also includes a free clicker, which we will be using to mark indications when running tracks.
Dogs need to wear a harness for the workshops, as we will be working on long line leads. You will need to bring 2 x red Kongs, plenty of treats and a long line lead to the workshops.
Our tracking workshops will be resuming in Spring 2026

Our silver level workshops follow on from the bronze level and introduce indications on owner articles, two new types of track shape, longer tracks and phasing out the use of food on the tracks. Our silver tracking workshops are split into two parts - series 3 and series 4 and are held outdoors at Springwood Junior School in Waterlooville.
Series 3 works on article indication on new owner scented articles, dog leg and open box tracks.
Series 4 progresses with article indications and adds two new longer tracks: castle and house.
Dogs will need to be comfortable being left in your vehicle, unless you have someone with you to hold them or they are happy being tethered whilst you lay your tracks. The school car park is gated and will be locked during workshops.
Each series includes an accompanying student workbook and certificate of attendance. Workshops will be series 3 and 4 combined, where attendees will work on the series relevant to their current level.
Dogs need to wear a harness for the workshops, as we will be working on long line leads.
Our tracking workshops will be resuming in Spring 2026

Our gold level workshops follow on from the silver level and introduce indications on articles belonging to other people, as well as following tracks laid by other people using all four track shapes covered in the bronze and silver levels. Our gold tracking workshops are split into two parts - series 5 and series 6 and are held outdoors at Springwood Junior School in Waterlooville.
Series 5 introduces indication on other people's scented articles and following dog leg and open box tracks laid by other people.
Series 6 progresses with indications on other people's scented articles and adds following castle and house tracks laid by other people.
Dogs will need to be comfortable being left in your vehicle, unless you have someone with you to hold them or they are happy being tethered whilst you lay your tracks. The school car park is gated and will be locked during workshops.
