K9K Puppy Foundations 6 Week Course - £70

Starting 9.30am Sunday 20th October 2019

A 6 week course learning essential life skills to give you and your puppy the best start for the adventures ahead! For puppies aged up to 6 months at the time of the course starting. Please note this course will take place over 7 weeks as there will be no class on Sunday 10th November 2019 due to an event taking place at the hall. 


6 x 1 hour weekly lessons which include a tea break/ask the trainer session where you can seek advice on any issues you are having with training or at home.   


During this fun filled course you will learn essential skills for everyday life such as:  


  • Walking nicely on lead
  • Coming back when called
  • Greeting manners and social skills
  • Focus on you
  • Leave/come away on command
  • Settle
  • Handling, health checks and grooming
  • Sit, lay down and stand positions
  • Waiting and release on cue
  • Boredom breakers
  • Fun tricks


Certificate and rosette given upon course completion.

K9K Intermediate 6 Week Course - £70

Starting 10.30am Sunday 20th October 2019

Following on from the Puppy Foundations course, this 6 week course takes the foundation skills achieved to the next level, as well as introducing new exercises. This course is suitable for puppies who have completed the puppy foundations course, older dogs that have had little/basic training and rescue dogs. Please note this course will take place over 7 weeks as there will be no class Sunday 10th November 2019 due to an event taking place at the hall. 


 6 x 1 hour weekly lessons which include a tea break/ask the trainer session where you can seek advice on any issues you are having with training or at home.  


This course covers essential skills and how to use them in everyday life such as:  


  • Loose lead walking
  • Settle
  • Coming back to you around distractions
  • Greeting manners
  • Waiting calmly at the door
  • Leaving items when walking
  • Staying still around distractions
  • Brain games and nose work
  • Grooming and health checks by unfamiliar people
  • Having fun!


Certificate and rosette given upon course completion.

K9K Advanced Training Classes 6 Week Course - £60

Starting 11.30am Sunday 20th October 2019

Following on from the K9K Intermediate course, these blocks of ongoing classes build on skills already achieved, as well as introducing more advanced and varied exercises. Suitable for dogs who have completed the K9K Intermediate course or an equivalent intermediate or bronze level course with another club. Please note this course take place over 7 weeks as there will be no class on Sunday 10th November 2019 due to an event taking place at the hall. 


These classes are ongoing in 6 week blocks of 1 hour lessons, which include a tea break/ask the trainer session.   New exercises will be covered in each 6 week block so you can do as many or as little blocks as you please.  


The types of exercise we cover in these classes include:


  • Loose lead/off lead walking
  • Recalls
  • Focus
  • Stays
  • Send away/send to bed
  • Emergency stops
  • Scent work
  • Socialisation/greeting manners
  • Fun agility
  • Fun flyball
  • Games/tricks
  • Enrichment
  • Handling and conditioning


Milestone awards will be presented at the end of each 6 week block for the exercises covered - allowing you to build up a collection of achievements for you and your dog!


The cost of your first 6 week block is £60 and as a loyalty scheme, every 6 week block following this will be £50.

Recall Wonders 4 Week Course - £45

Starting 12.30pm Sunday 20th October 2019

Does your dog always come back to you? Even when distracted? Would you like to build a reliable recall? Then this is the course for you! A 4 week course learning the key components of a successful recall, this course will make it fun and rewarding for your dog to come back to you time and time again! Please note this course will take place over 5 weeks as there will be no class on Sunday 10th November 2019 due to an event at the hall. 


4 x 1 hour weekly lessons,  which include a tea break/ask the trainer session where you can seek advice on any issues you are having with training or at home, held both in and outdoors, learning a variety of ways of how to build a successful recall, including key components such as:


  • Effective response to name
  • Commands and their uses
  • Ways of rewarding
  • Introducing targets
  • Distraction building
  • Long line use
  • The fun factor!

Gundog Foundations 6 Week Course - £70

Starting 2pm Saturday 19th October 2019

Do you have a gundog breed? Would you like to learn how to develop their breed traits and put them to use in everyday life? Want to know more about gundog training? Then this is the course for you! This course is ideal for owners wishing to try gundog training just for fun or as a foundation to moving on to training with a gundog club. 


6 x 1 hour weekly lessons, which include a tea break/ask the trainer session,  held outdoors, learning key foundation gundog training exercises including:


  • Recall
  • Stop
  • Hunting on cue
  • Retrieve
  • Stay (Steady)
  • Whistle work
  • Hand signals (left, right and back)
  • Targeting (hand, platform and posts)


Certificate and rosette given upon course completion.  


Previous basic training (e.g. sit, stay, recall) would be advantageous but is not essential.

Workshops

UK Sniffer Dogs Detection Dog Series 1 Workshop - £50

10am-12pm Saturday 28th September & 5th October 2019 or 10am-12pm Saturday 9th & 16th November 2019

UK Sniffer Dog's Detection Dog Series 1 & 2, will give you all the skills as a handler and dog scent team to complete the Bronze Trial - building freeze indication on target scent, completing searches on pipes, chairs, bags, vehicle and novel search environments like exterior walls and fences. For more information about the UK Sniffer Dogs programme, visit our UK Sniffer Dogs page. 


Our UK Sniffer Dogs workshops are held at the Wickham Centre in Wickham. This workshop takes place over 2 weeks, allowing you time to practice between sessions. Each session is 2 hours in length and includes refreshment breaks.


During this workshop we will work on scent pairing, indication, game of choice, line ups, pipe and chair searches.


Includes an accompanying booklet and certificate of attendance.

Brain Games and Boredom Breakers Workshop - £20

10am to 11.30am Sunday 15th September 2019

Does your dog get bored easily? Do they dislike being on their own? Do you wish you could do more at home with them? Then this is the workshop for you, where you will learn how to keep your dog happy, engage their brains and give them fun things to do when not exploring the great outdoors! Keeping your dog mentally stimulated can potentially be all the difference between a content calm dog and a frenzied, hyperactive monster! 


A 1.5 hour interactive workshop exploring enrichment and the benefits it can have for your dog.  Covering brain games/problem solving,  home made activities, nose work and activities when left alone.


Enrichment has many uses and benefits including:


  • Mental stimulation (dogs need a balance of physical and mental exercise)
  • Activity during periods of restricted exercise (you or your dog!)
  • During time left alone
  • Wet/hot/cold weather days
  • Or just for fun!

Firework Night Survival Workshop - £20

12.30pm to 2pm Sunday 8th September 2019

Do you dread that time of year that sparks the arrival of fireworks? Is your dog scared or anxious of fireworks? Would you like to help them feel more at ease and make it a less stressful event for them? Then this is the workshop for you! Held before the firework season begins, you will have a good amount of time to work with your dog and plan for the months ahead. 


This 1.5 hour interactive workshop will discuss important factors to take into account when preparing for the fireworks season and will guide you through how to create a plan to put in place for your dog including:


  • Desensitisation to noises
  • Exercise
  • Environment
  • Feeding
  • Enrichment
  • Supplements


This workshop consists of a mixture of practical and theoretical elements for you and your dog and includes a handy workshop guide to take home with you.

Loose Lead Walking Workshop - £20

11am to 12.30pm Sunday 6th October 2019

Does your dog pull? Are daily walks becoming a chore? Do you dread that time of day when you need to take your dog for a walk? Then this is the workshop for you! Learning the art of loose lead walking, this workshop will show you how you can make walks enjoyable for you and your dog! 


This 1.5 hour workshop takes place both indoors and outside and covers the foundations for successful loose lead walking, keeping it enjoyable for both handler and dog so you look forward to the next walk time and time again! 


Covering key components such as:


  • Types of reward
  • Step by step loose lead techniques
  • Obtaining focus
  • Equipment
  • Use of the environment
  • Adding the fun factor!

Puppy Socialisation and Play Date - £10

10am to 11am Sunday 6th October 2019

Early socialisation can play a critical part in the upbringing of your puppy, helping to create a dog who is comfortable around different environments, dogs and people. Socialisation is not only visual but also olfactory (smell), audio and touch. This one off session is fun and engaging for your puppy and ideal for puppies due to join puppy classes to introduce them to a training hall environment. Puppies must have received their first set of vaccinations to attend. 


A 1 hour play and learn session for puppies up to 14 weeks of age, combining a mixture of safe play and socialisation exercises to introduce your puppy to a world of sights, smells and textures as well as meeting new puppy friends!


Includes fun exercises such as:


· Pandora's toy box

· Scent surprise

· Puppy treat subuteo

· Tuggy chase

· Texture zone


A tea break/ask the trainer session is included where you can chat to other puppy owners and seek advice on any puppy issues you are having at home.

Total Trick Workshop - £20

10am to 11.30am Sunday 22nd September 2019

A trick workshop? Why would you want to teach your dog tricks? There are many reasons why teaching your dogs tricks is a good idea, aside from the obvious cute side/party trick for your friends, tricks have many uses in every day life, whether it be adding a hand touch or spin to loose lead walking to engage with your dog, keeping them fit, teaching them to ring a bell to go to the garden or lifting their paw for nail clipping. The possibilities are endless! 


A 1.5 hour workshop exploring tricks, how to teach them and how/why they can be used in everyday life to benefit both you and your dog.


Covering tricks such as:


  • Play bow
  • Beg
  • Twist and spin
  • Ringing a bell
  • Peek a boo
  • Touch
  • Learning to read
  • Take it
  • Roll over
